Reader’s top destination: Slovenia

The summer is rapidly approaching, although not before the dreaded exams! But, we all need something to look forward to. So why not book a holiday to the Eastern European country of Slovenia? Nestled in between Italy and Croatia, Slovenia makes the perfect summer holiday destination.

It is a country rapidly growing in popularity, yet it remains much cheaper than a number of other European Countries. Therefore it is perfect for students with a slightly bruised bank account from the past year! Once there eating out costs little over seven to eight Euros and transport is also cheap. If you are looking for a lively beach holiday (think Malia, Zante, Ayia Napa…) visit Portorz -undoubtedly one of the more popular resorts for students. If you are keen to explore a little more of Slovenia then make sure you plan a trip to Lake Bled. This can be arranged easily and cheaply by travelling on the bus.

Perfect for students with a slightly bruised bank account!

Lake Bled is an idyllic, fairytale looking lake which provides a backdrop for spectacular photographs of the beautiful crystal clear water. A tiny island sits in the centre of the lake and this can be visited by the infamous Pletna boats where you can see the fifteenth century church and the ninety nine steps leading to it. Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and is a must see City! Although only small, during the summer Ljubljana holds endless festivials, street celebrations and music. The atmosphere is calm and happy with friendly hospitable locals. Flights from London start at around £100, so what is stopping you?
