Quidditch blog: Rocs looking to make history

It’s hard training mode at the moment for the Rocs, as it’s less than 20 days until the first big tournament of the year.

This week has seen the introduction of tackling and full-contact gameplay, to great success. A number of new faces were putting more experienced players on their asses very quickly, which was inspiring (if a little painful) to be on the receiving end of.

Tensions were high over the weekend among the experienced members as we had the live draw for Southern Cup telling us who we’d be playing against for the first day of the tournament. It’s these group stages that determine whether we’ll be playing in the upper or lower bracket come day two. And luck may have been on our side. We’ve got a solid chance of finishing in the middle of the group we were put into, which may well take us into the upper bracket for the first time in Rocs history.

Currently, the roster is being finalised with an even mix of experienced players and new faces alike. This year we’re in a position where we can’t take everyone, as we can take only 21. Jake and John (Captain and Vice) have their work cut out scoping out the best possible team to take us as far as we can possibly get.
