The final weekend of action before the Christmas break threw up some big scorelines as teams looked to assert themselves at the halfway stage in the intramural competition. C.F. Wessex Freshers continued to lay down a marker to the rest of Division A with a 4-1 defeat of Law Society, but Bulmershe remain hot on their tails after a 3-1 victory over Mackinder, as do Badger FC after a 7-1 thrashing of Windsor Hall. The other match in League A this past weekend saw Sherfield dominate Benyon Athletic Old Boys to run out 5-1 winners.
In League B Geography Society extended their lead at the top with a 6-0 demolition of CSKA Chem Soc, whilst Wessex Old Boys drew level with Greek-Cypriot FC after beating Stenton 6-0. The Greek-Cypriots lost to Construction Society 3-2. The other game in the division between Wantage Old Boys and Benyon Athletic FC was a 6-2 rout in favour of the latter.
Divison C saw Wantage Hall FC beat previous leaders Olympique Kendrick, as they took over the top spot. St Georges remain in third place after beating challengers R.U.M.P.S. FC 2-1, whilst Silly Old Boys recorded their first win with a 6-2 victory of Reading Uni Cricket Club, who may be wondering whether to stick to their usual sport.
At this halfway point in the season its looking good for Geography Society, Wessex Freshers and Wantage Hall FC, with plenty of other challengers also vying for qualification to the automatic knock-out stages. See a full mid-point round-up in the newspaper coming out this week.Follow @Spark_sport
