‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ – Dr. Martens Launches New Reading Store

Looking for the hottest place to buy your newest pumped up kicks? Then look no further than the newly launched Dr. Martens store located in their new home Queen Victoria Street, Reading.

The first pair of Dr. Martens boots rolled off the production line on the 1st April 1960. Today Reading students can purchase them on their own doorstep as the brand opened their brand new Reading branch this summer.

The new store celebrated their launch on the 21st July with a host of exciting events including throwing a special in-store gig with Reading’s finest The Amazons and Blackwaters and working with local artist Joe La-Placa on exclusive artwork for the store. The evening was a huge hit with Reading locals as guests were treated to drinks and amazing music as well as the preview of the brand new store.

Continuing support of local, home-grown talent, on Saturday the 9th September from 12 – 3pm the store welcomed tattoo artist extraordinaire Belle Atrix. Having already built a huge fan base online, super talented Belle customized Dr. Martens products with her unique intricate designs. Consumers were able to bring in their old Dr. Martens or treat themselves to a fresh new pair in-store.

Dr. Martens is famed for being a brand adopted and subverted by musicians, youth cultures and tribes.  The new Dr. Martens Reading promises to reflect the brands’ rich history and offer further community  based events and meet-ups in the following weeks by working with a range of diverse individuals from the local community. We are very excited to see what the store has planned for the rest of the year and look forward to visiting soon to get our hands on those stylish boots.
