‘Horsing Around’ – University of Reading Riding Club

Love horses ? Perhaps this popular pony club may tickle your fancy? Learn more about what the Riding Club have planned for this year.

As a club this year, both BUCS A and BUCS B teams have done exceptionally well with two of the BUCS A girls making it to regionals (Emma Jones and Emma Freeman). Throughout the year, we have many events taking place, including a Christmas gymkhana, a riding holiday in Wales, a jumping clinic and a summer competition within the club known as Mini Bads, where the members compete in show jumping, cross country and dressage.

Everyone and anyone is welcome to join the club! We currently have members who have never ridden before to experienced riders who compete. The club holds lessons every week to allow our riders to improve, hosted at Wellington Riding School and abilities range from Beginners to Highers. Although there is a competitive side to the riding club, there is also a friendly side with many socials happening throughout the year from pizza nights to nights out to union as well as joining with other clubs to do joint socials.

Hopefully there will also be a friendly team for the next academic year as well as the BUCS teams for the people who wish to compete with a more relaxed atmosphere.
