Korfball. Is it a sport? Is it played within a team? Will there be lots of socials with plenty of people to make friends with?
The answer is yes, yes, and most definitely YES! Korfball is a Dutch sport that is a mix between netball and basketball with teams that consist of four girls and four boys. The aim of the game is to score as many goals as possible against the defending team. You can score the goals from anywhere inside of your attacking half giving you the opportunity to show your different types of shooting skills both close and far range.
Never played korfball before? Do not worry at all! The current team had never played it either until they went to their first training session. You will learn the rules and tactics of this really fun sport as you come to training sessions, and in a short time you will feel like you have always played.
We play weekly games, which allows for players to take part as much or as little as they would like. There is also the choice to play at a competitive or a more laid back level. The team hold social events throughout the academic year, which gives you the opportunity to take part in many fun activities whilst meeting plenty of different people.
If you are looking for a sport to play that involves making lots of new friends whilst learning plenty of different skills then korfball is definitely the sports team for you to join. If you have any questions you can always message us on Facebook or meet us at the Freshers Fayre.
We can’t wait to welcome you all to this wonderful team!
