Winter blues getting you down? Already planning ahead for the sunny summer months of freedom on the horizon of 2017? Maybe some of you haven’t even thought about the summer yet… But that’s all about to change because whoever you may be, whatever you might be doing, there is one thing I need you all to do right now and that is to STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND READ THIS EXCLUSIVE NEWS UPDATE: The Spark is proud to announce to all music and festival lovers Reading-wide the moment many of us have been waiting eagerly for… Yes that’s right, Reading & Leeds Festival have announced their first headliners for 2017: MUSE! And what a headliner it is!
Muse has commented to the official Reading and Leeds festival organisers that they are “very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds again” Again? Yes, these prog rock masters have headlined before in 2006 as part of their Black Holes and Revelations Tour, promoting their explosive fourth studio album of the same name. Now carrying a total of seven albums under their guitar straps, as well as a casual couple of Grammy’s, Brit awards, MTV awards, and NME awards (no biggie, right?) It looks set to be an unmissable performance.
But wait, the good news doesn’t stop there! Not only do we have this supermassive headliner announced, there are also many other major acts confirmed including the dancehall electro house phenomenon Major Lazor. Taking the world by storm multiple songs at a time, this power trio continue to dominate the charts and put their mark on the modern dance scene. So for anyone who missed them on their 2016 UK Tour, Watch Out for This because they’re coming back to get us shaking our Bubble Butts to their unstoppable beats once more.
Another chart-topping band is heading our way too with Bastille being the third act to be revealed. Currently one of the biggest acts on the planet after the success of their world-wide selling album Bad Blood, they have their name once more all over the charts with the latest release of their LP Wild World. There certainly won’t be any bad blood in this performance.
Other acts confirmed, are At the Drive-In, a band at the forefront of experimental rock and post-hardcore genre, who never fail to surprise or disappoint their loyal audience. Alongside them are another highly influential and celebrated post-hardcore band but this one originating from our side of the Atlantic: the British band, Achitects. Danny Brown, another artist from across the pond who will also be bringing a unique and unforgettable performance to our stages. Known for his individuality he currently holds the critics in awe with his latest material being one of the most critically acclaimed contributions to the hip-hop genre. Glass Animals will also be making an appearance, which will continue the rapid rise to fame 2016 has brought them, with sell out tours in the UK, US and Europe! The last first few acts to be announced but certainly not the least are Tory Lanez, Against the Current, and the return of While She Sleeps.
Well, I don’t know about you but these acts alone have seduced me to make good use of that student overdraft to buy a ticket to this jam-packed august bank holiday weekend of festival fun and musical awesomeness! Melvin Benn commented to the official Reading & Leeds Festival news-feed “we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line-up” – We can’t wait either Melvin! With so many acts still to be revealed and judging by this first glimpse into the line-up we can expect great things from Reading & Leeds Fest 2017!
