Student Recipes: Gourmet Bagels


  • half a cup of mayo (this is a rough estimate, the amount of mayo depends on personal taste)
  • chives
  • mixed herbs
  • salt and pepper
  • a bagel
  • grated cheddar (go for a more mild cheddar rather than mature)


  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C
  2. Mix in a cup the mayonnaise, chives, mixed herbs, salt and pepper
  3. Spread this over the bagel, sprinkle the grated cheese on top and season with the chives and pepper
  4. Place in the oven for 15 minutes
  5. Serve

This is very hot when taken out of the oven due to the heat of the mayonnaise, so be careful before straight away biting into the bagel.
