Football teams go unbeaten in latest BUCs action for Reading Knights

All five of Reading Knights’ football teams in action were unbeaten in their second week of BUCs fixtures. Wins for the Men’s 2s, Men’s 4s, and Women’s 1s were accompanied by battling draws for the Men’s 1s and 3s. With three of those matches taking place on Whiteknights Campus there was plenty to cheer about for the home fans.

The Women’s 1s fixture was away at the University of Arts in Chiswick and a 2-0 victory was their second win by the same scoreline in a row, this time topped off by captain Daisy Rennison’s 25 yard free-kick planted into the top right corner.» >

Campus Sports 11-a-side league round-up

Saturday the 19th October saw the first fixtures of the Sports Park’s Campus Sport 11-a-side league take place. Division A debutants Badger FC got off to a respectable start, overcoming Benyon Athletic Old Boys 2-1 in a tight encounter. Lone striker Rob Bryan-Smith played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring the first goal from a Jack Leafe cross. He then caused a communication breakdown in the Benyon defence, resulting in a defender heading an audacious through ball from Ellis Lawson past his own keeper and into the net.» >

Reading go top of Premier B South with last gasp penalty

Reading 1st XV made it two wins from two thanks to a last minute penalty from scrum half Max Edmonton to top Premier B South in a tight affair against Cardiff 2’s. Cardiff travelled to Berkshire looking to make amends for a narrow defeat to St Mary’s the week before, whilst Reading were aiming for back to back victories following their historic win away at Hartpury last Wednesday.

Despite horrific conditions throughout the morning, the skies cleared over Whiteknights as Reading kicked off with the wind behind their backs.» >

Mixed results for Reading as Women’s Football start well

The first week of BUCs action for most of Reading University’s sports team was a mixed affair. With only the Rugby Union teams in action last week, it was an opportunity for the ‘Reading Knights’ to get their seasons up and running, and some teams fared better than others.

There was a good start for the Women’s Football 1s as they dominated their game against UCL (RUMS) to run out 2-0 winners.» >

Reading claim historic victory away at Hartpury

Reading’s Rugby Union 1st XV claimed the university’s first ever win on Hartpury soil on Wednesday afternoon with a tremendous bonus point 24-17 win. Whilst Reading had beaten Hartpury on two of their past three meetings, the Berkshire side had yet to take anything away from Gloucester in living memory. However, fresh off a good pre-season win against Brunel the week before, a young and exciting side made the journey to the west country with high spirits.
