10 Reasons Why You Should Join Yogalates

Just because you didn’t join in freshers does not mean you have to wait till next year! Here are 10 reasons why you don’t have to wait (and shouldn’t) to join Yogalates:

1. It is a good way to get fit

Almost 1/5 of people in the UK have a new year’s resolution. So, chances are, you probably have one. If your resolution is to get fit this year, by joining Yogalates your resolution is sorted!

2. It is for all abilities

In a typical Yogalates session, there are many students with different abilities. Our instructors, who are students too, create high-energy Pilates workouts which are as difficult as you want them to be! Yogalates provides resistance bands and other modifications to our workouts, so you can build up to the tiring stuff.

3. It is zero commitment

Have an exam one day? Or maybe you just don’t feel like coming one week? There is no consequence to missing a Yogalates session. You can come every week, or if just having the membership is good enough – then that’s also fine! Yogalates was created to just be a fun way to work out – no strings attached.

4. It is affordable!

At just £10.15 for the rest of the year, or £15.15 for non – students, Yogalates is one of the cheapest sports societies. With this fee, you can also join our socials and other events we do throughout the year. One of our most popular is our AGM, the Yogalates annual formal.

5. It is one hour a week

One hour out of the week: you can meet new friends, get fit, and attend as many socials as you want. Why not? Our sessions are every Tuesday, 8-9 pm in 3Sixty.

6. Meet some new people!

If you are a pandemic fresher, you might not have met the true loves that are your uni mates. Maybe this is your master’s year, and you haven’t clicked with anyone yet. Either way, you meet so many people in Yogalates socials and sessions, you might be introduced to your future best friend.

7. There are lots of joint socials this term (no. really.)

We have a lot of joint socials up our sleeve this term! Whether it is joint sessions with Vegetarian and Vegan Society or our yearly night out with Men’s Cricket, it will be impossible for you not to meet someone new and have a good time.

8. Our welfare team!

With your Yogalates membership, you also have access to our Welfare team. Our Welfare and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity) reps will be there for any concerns that you may have and will support you if you need any adjustments or help in our sessions or socials.

9. We will be at refreshers fayre!

If you have any questions for us, refreshers fayre is the time to ask! You will find our stall in RUSU on the 19th January. If you have missed it, don’t worry! We will also be doing a free taster session on the 25th. We expect a lot of newcomers for these sessions, so you won’t be the only one!

10. You must be interested if you have been reading this far – go for it!
