Police tried to ‘spy’ on CUSU

The Guardian have recently reported that Police have attempted to spy on political activities at the University of Cambridge.

Cambridge University Students’ Union commented that they: “have always constructively engaged with the police when planning or supporting protests and demonstrations. Tactics such as these are not only intrusive, they also waste time targeting groups which are involved in making important and positive change in our society.”

The covertly recorded film that The Guardian obtained shows the officer trying to persuade an activist to spy on the political activities of the Students’ Union and the students of the University.» >

Evacuate the Dancefloor!

Saturday Union nights are very popular with University of Reading students, the ‘Saturday Union – Reading University Students Union’ page has well over 2,350 likes on Facebook and Saturday nights are usually a regular sell out.

Around 11pm on Saturday 12 October, fire alarms in the Students Union went off and everyone inside was evacuated. Josh Cave, RUSU’s Student Engagement Officer, stated that it was a “haze effect” machine that triggered the fire alarms.» >
