Green Week Events Coming to Campus

Get ready to be green! 

Green week is coming to campus from the 14th to the 16th of November, so prepare for a week of environment saving fun! The events coming to campus this year are:

On Wednesday:
10-2pm: Dr Bike (Palmer Quad) will be on hand to fix people’s bikes.
1-3pm: Green Careers Event (Chancellors G01). Companies will include Thames Water, AECOM and Frontier.
2-4pm: Bike Skills Session (Palmer Quad). Free Cycling training for a variety of skill levels.
Wednesday afternoon: (Palmer Quad) there will be the opportunity for students to pledge to reduce their single-use plastic consumption by painting their hand print onto a tapestry.

On Thursday:
No plastic day pledge: pledge to not use any plastic for the day by tweeting @UniRdg_Sust.
12-2pm: Dr Bike (The Dairy, London Road).
1-1.45pm: Energy Centre Tour. Check out our Energy Centre and learn how it is helping the University save carbon every day. Tickets on Eventbrite.
All Day: vegetarian and vegan food stand in RUSU as well as recipe cards to inspire students to cook more sustainably whilst both being on a budget and wanting to eat delicious food!
Thursday evening (TBC): environmental documentary in Ice Bar.

On Friday:
1-1.45pm: Energy Centre Tour.
1-1.45pm: Low carbon brewing talk (Palmer 109). Conversation on low carbon brewing and a chance to win a trip to the brewery for you and a friend.
4-6pm: Low carbon beverage (The Dairy, London Road): come and taste a low carbon beer and hear all about what makes it so special.

Kahina Bouhassane is a third year English Literature student at the University of Reading and Entertainment Editor of the Spark Online. She has published articles in local newspapers and publications and was one of the 2017/18 Editors of the Reading University Creative Arts Anthology. Alongside her studies she has also worked internships in Publishing and Marketing and been employed to write press releases for various companies as well as completing a NCTJ accredited Foundation course in Journalism.
