Reading Ballroom, Latin and Salsa Society (or RUBLS) has an exciting year ahead and we are looking forward to welcoming new members in our first taster sessions on the Monday, September 25 and Thursday, September 28.
Our Monday lessons aim to teach Ballroom and Latin style dance, starting from the basic steps you need to progress. Thursdays are our salsa nights and we often encourage members to join us many other evenings in Reading’s town centre where there are many salsa events to take part in. If you love dancing as much as the committee does there are loads of opportunities throughout the year to get involved in.
There are a few university competitions we attend during the year and if you decide you would like to compete, we give you all the extra support you need to get ready for a competition. These are the best days for all our members that bonds us together as team RUBLS. If competitions
If competitions aren’t your thing, we also perform at some of the dance shows organised by the other societies so we have a mix of show dances we teach during our optional Wednesday practise session.
This summer we were able to take a few members on a salsa congress in Ireland, and we would love to find more trips for our dancers to participate in. As well as this, some of our members will be competing at the NATD National competition in Blackpool this September. During the last year, a few of our dancers have worked hard to complete a Medalist exam in order to qualify for this circuit of competitions.
Our committee this year are ready to start organising an amazing year for our dancers, we all love being a part of this family and can’t wait to meet our new members. If you are interested in finding out more about RUBLS, you can find us on Facebook and we will be at the Fresher’s Fair on Thursday, the 21st September or, just come to one of our classes on Monday and Thursday from 7-9pm in Wessex Hall.
