Aaron Lee is a committee member for RUSNO, one of Reading University’s biggest societies. They welcome any members, from beginners to pros, and organise the infamous ski tour, and snowball.
“Friends and family got me into my sport, as well as my ski instructor. I’ve been doing snow sports since I was six.
“RUSNO is the one of the biggest societies on campus, has the best socials, the biggest tour, and the cheapest ski holiday you’ll ever go on.”
If you’re yet to be sold on what RUSNO has to offer, Aaron answered enthusiastically when asked what in particular there is to look forward to this year,
“Tour! And socials. Also freestyle, racing, and the BUDS (BUCs Dryslope Championships) in Ediburgh in November.
“There’s too many highlights to list with RUSNO. Too many beers to remember.”
Aaron is more than just a snowsports fanatic. He expresses interest in football, surfing, sailing, and even athletics. He also explained some of his sporting inspirations,
“My favourite sporting moment of all time was Michael Owen’s World Cup goal against Argentina in 1998. It was the reason I got into football, and started supporting Liverpool.
“If I had to choose one sports person to aspire to it would Kelly Slater, the pro-surfer. He’s been world champ 16 times, and surfs every day. He’s living the dream.”
Aaron is now a 3rd year student, with plenty of experience of life at Reading Uni. Here are his responses to some ‘quick-fire’ questions:
Q bar or Union: Union
Park Bar or Mojo’s: Park bar
Campus Central or the Korean Shop: Korean Shop
Favourite floor in the library: 2nd
Favourite food outlet in Reading: Chickenbase
Favourite thing about campus: The lake
Aaron is studying biological sciences, and has recently taken up the role of treasurer for RUSNO. He can be found on Twitter at @aaronthomaslee.
